I'm not a computer whiz but I'd recommend this computer to others. I love the color.
I basically use it to access the internet. This is my first laptop and so far I love it.
For the money, the computer is good buy. I haven't put my ITunes on it yet and have stored a few pictures but haven't really had the Vista problems others talk about.
My son is using the Light Scribe feature and so far, so good. The battery life could be better but I use it most of the time plugged in so no problems.
I know that it has features that I'll probably never use (my kids will though) but who knows, I might get get wild and use that web cam yet.
I'm just using it, basically, to store pictures, browse the internet, and play music and audio books. I love this computer. It does absolutely everything I need it to do, which, granted, isn't much. I have to say the card reader is awesome and so is the remote, which is so cute. I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone who just needs a really good, user-friendly computer.
Other than the OS the laptop was zippy. Too bad HP didn't offer XP drivers for the hardware.
They aren't. The problem was with driver incompatibility with Vista.
I bought this computer thinking that the reviews of Vista were exaggerated. Vista took up a ton of hard drive space compared to XP.
I'm returning the laptop and am waiting for Windows 7 to be released. Why should I have to suffer through a sub-par operating system and pay for a Windows 7 upgrade.
I would have 'downgraded' to XP SP2 if they had. The screen was brilliant.
The size of the screen is perfect, also the high quality webcam. This computer is great. Great functionality as a replacement for a desktop. The only disadvantage I found were the speakers (I thought they were going to have a better performance at high volumes). Nice design and fashionable but dirty color.
My husband and I did a LOT of shopping around before buying a laptop and this model kept popping up in our most-likely choices. I agree with the previous review that it doesn't open with one hand and I thought it would be an annoyance, but with having three kids ages 7 and under, my youngest is not able to access my computer and that makes it a nice benefit to me. Since I leave my computer on most of the day, battery life was not an issue to me as I leave it plugged in most of the time, but I've noticed that it will last approx 1hr 30 mins or so. It didn't come loaded with a bunch of useless programs (just 2-3 advertisement type icons) and has a very helpful 'help center'I've enjoyed it so far, as a basic user (I'm very point/click and don't know anything about programming) and would recommend this to friends and family.
